...I asked Sidney how she would feel if her book was ever optioned for film, below is her response...
If My Book Is Ever a Film – A girl can dream, right?
When I saw this question pop up, I just had to answer it. Who would I like to see play my characters? Funny thing is, when I look for images of my characters, I deliberately avoid those of celebrities and opt for unknown models from stock photos instead. After the characters get more developed, though it gets a little easier to pick out who’d play my characters best. It’s every author’s dream to see their characters live on the big screen, right? Gosh, I hope so, or I am indeed weird.
So let’s get this show on the road.
Lucy Gregory is the heroine from Demons Prefer Blondes. She’s a no-nonsense, quite sarcastic, hairstylist who just happens to be a half-succubus. She doesn’t discover this, however, until she accidentally unleashes a legion of demons in her suburban hair salon. She’s got shoulder length, stylish hair and greenish-gold hazel eyes. She’s beautiful, but not full of herself. Matter of fact, she doesn’t really see herself as beautiful at all—until her transformation, that is. Then there is no denying her steamy sensuality. Jessica Biel would make a great Lucy. She’s played some straight-forward, sarcastic roles and has the look I saw Lucy having. And we can’t deny that Jessica is gorgeous.
Now, for Rafe. This is going to be a little trickier. He’s pretty stony and reserved. He’s got a muscular body with shoulder-length, uber-gorgeous dark hair. To make things even more complicated, he’s got silver eyes. Thank god for contacts—and hair dye, of course. I could totally see Australian actor Dustin Clare playing Rafe Deleon. For those who are unfamiliar with Dustin, he plays Gannicus on Starz’s Spartacus Gods of the Arena. The penetrating gaze in this picture says it all.Yummy, right?
I even found someone who could play my bad guy, Belial, the leader of the Infernati. Belial has blonde hair and can be swank and debonair. He’s attractive, if you can get past the stench of brimstone that clings to him. As much as I love Paul Bettany, he can definitely play a bad guy. Who can forget that creepy performance in The Davinci Code?
So if you’ve written a book, who would you cast as your hero and heroine? Or if you’re a reader, who would you cast in your favorite book?
